Method

Follow each step in order. Ingredient names are highlighted as you go.

6 steps
  1. 01

Bring the water to a simmer and blanch the savoy cabbage. Remove the outer leaves as they become pliable and cool them enough to handle.

  2. 02

Cook the white rice in the water until only partly tender, then drain and cool. Combine it with the ground pork, onion, garlic, egg, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 03

Trim the thick rib from each cabbage leaf so it folds easily. Place some filling on each leaf, fold in the sides, and roll tightly.

  4. 04

Stir together the tomato sauce, tomato paste, and meat stock in a baking dish or casserole.

  5. 05

Arrange the rolls seam-side down in the sauce. Cover and bake at 180°C (350°F) until the cabbage is very tender and the ground pork filling reaches 71°C (160°F).

  6. 06

Let the rolls rest for a few minutes before serving so they hold their shape neatly in the sauce.
