Stew
- 800gBeef Shoulder (cut into chunks)
- 150gPeanut Paste
- 50gTomato Paste
- 250gTomato (finely chopped)
- 200gOnion (finely chopped)
- 15gGarlic (crushed)
- 40mlVegetable Oil
- 900mlWater
- 1pcsBouillon Cube
- 2pcsBay Leaf
- 8gSalt
- 4gBlack Pepper

- 300gSweet Potato (peeled and cut into large pieces)
- 200gGreen Cabbage (cut into wedges)

- 450gWhite Rice (rinsed)
- 900mlWater

Method
Follow each step in order. Ingredient names are highlighted as you go.

Heat the vegetable oil in a heavy pot and brown the beef shoulder well.

Add the onion and cook until softened, then stir in the garlic.

Mix in the tomato paste and cook until slightly darkened, then add the tomato.

Pour in the water and add the bouillon cube, bay leaves, salt, and black pepper. Cover and simmer until the beef begins to tenderize.

Whisk the peanut paste with hot liquid from the pot, then stir it into the stew until smooth.

Continue simmering until the beef is tender and the sauce no longer tastes raw.

Add the carrot, sweet potato, and green cabbage and cook until tender.

Cook the white rice in the water until tender.

Remove the bay leaves and serve the mafé over the rice.
