    Bring the water to a simmer in a saucepan and add the grated cocoa stick and cinnamon stick.

    Whisk until the cocoa stick has dissolved into the liquid and the drink looks smooth.

    Pour in the whole milk and keep the heat low so the tea does not boil over.

    Add the brown sugar, nutmeg powder, and salt, then stir until the sugar is dissolved.

    Finish with the vanilla extract and simmer very gently for another minute.

    Strain out the cinnamon stick if you like a smoother drink, then serve hot.
