    Soak the saffron threads in the lukewarm water until the color blooms.

    Mix the all-purpose flour, active dry yeast, baking powder, white sugar, cardamom powder, and salt. Whisk in the saffron infusion and the remaining lukewarm water to make a thick, sticky batter.

    Cover and let the batter rise in a warm place at about 30°C (86°F) until bubbly and expanded.

    Heat the vegetable oil to 175°C (350°F).

    Drop small portions of batter into the hot vegetable oil and fry until evenly golden and cooked through.
