Method

Rub the unsalted butter into the all-purpose flour and salt until the mixture looks sandy. Add the egg and water, then mix until a smooth dough forms.

Wrap the dough and let it rest, then roll it out thinly on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into long narrow strips.

Wrap each stick of queso fresco cheese with a strip of dough, stretching it slightly and sealing the ends well so the cheese does not leak.
