Bring the water to a boil in a large pot and add the salt. Cook the spaghetti pasta until al dente, then drain.

Melt the unsalted butter in a large pan over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until soft and translucent.

Stir in the garlic and cook briefly, then add the mushroom and cook until the mushrooms have released their moisture and turned tender.

Add the ham and cook just long enough to warm it through.

Pour in the heavy cream, bring it to a gentle simmer, and cook until the sauce lightly thickens.
