Method

Heat the oven to 180°C (356°F).

Spread the salted butter over the white bread and cut or tear the bread into pieces.

Arrange the bread in a baking dish, scattering the raisins between the layers.

Whisk together the whole milk, eggs, white sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Pour the custard over the bread and leave it to soak until the bread is well saturated.

Sprinkle the top with the nutmeg powder and cinnamon powder.

Bake until the pudding is golden on top and the custard is softly set at 71°C (160°F) in the center.
