MishkakiGrilled Beef Skewers

These smoky beef skewers are inspired by the street-food style served across East Africa, where meat is marinated with citrus, garlic, and warming spices before grilling. They are juicy, boldly seasoned, and excellent with salad or rice.

5 steps
  1. 01

Mix the garlic, fresh ginger, lime juice, curry powder, paprika, black pepper, salt, and vegetable oil to make a marinade.

  2. 02

Add the beef sirloin and turn until all the pieces are well coated.

  3. 03

    Thread the beef onto skewers.

  4. 04

Grill over high heat, or cook under a very hot grill at 230°C (450°F), turning often until browned and the beef sirloin reaches at least 63°C (145°F) for medium, followed by a 3-minute rest.

  5. 05

Rest the skewers briefly before serving.
