Method

Whisk the chickpea flour, turmeric powder, salt, and water in a saucepan until completely smooth.

Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it becomes thick, glossy, and pulls away from the sides of the pan.

Brush a shallow tray with the vegetable oil, pour in the chickpea mixture, and smooth the top. Cool until fully set.

Whisk the tamarind paste and lime juice with the water and salt until smooth.

Heat the vegetable oil in a small pan. Fry the garlic until lightly golden, stir in the chili powder, and remove from the heat.
