    Warm the water until lukewarm, about 40°C (104°F), then stir in the active dry yeast and white sugar. Let it stand until foamy.

    Place the all-purpose flour and salt in a bowl, then pour in the yeast mixture and stir until you have a thick, sticky batter.

    Cover the bowl and let the batter rise in a warm place until airy and expanded.

    Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pot to 175°C (347°F).

    Drop small spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil and fry until the dough bites are puffed and golden on all sides.

    Lift them out and drain briefly on paper.
