Method
Follow each step in order. Ingredient names are highlighted as you go.

Cook the macaroni pasta in the water with the first salt until just underdone, then drain.

Melt the unsalted butter in a wide pan. Add the ground beef and cook until browned and at least 71°C (160°F).

Add the ham, onion, and garlic and cook until the onion is soft.

Stir in the tomato sauce, tomato paste, dried oregano, second salt, and black pepper. Simmer until thick.

Combine the macaroni pasta with the sauce and half of the parmesan. Cool for 10 minutes, then stir in the eggs.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

Line a 23 cm (9-inch) deep pie dish with half of the shortcrust pastry.

Fill with the pasta mixture, top with the rest of the parmesan, and cover with the rest of the shortcrust pastry. Seal and vent the top.

Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, until the pastry is deep golden and the center reaches 74°C (165°F).

Rest for 20 minutes before slicing.
