    Cook the white rice in its water until tender, then keep covered.

    Heat the vegetable oil in a pot over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until soft.

    Add the tomato and cook until it breaks down.

    Stir in the jute leaves and okra and cook until wilted.

    Add the smoked fish, fermented locust bean seasoning, chili powder, and water. Simmer gently for 15 minutes.
