- 800gPotato (peeled and cubed)
- 250gPearl Barley (rinsed)
- 1.4lWater
- 10gSalt
- 2gBlack Pepper
- 40gUnsalted Butter

Method

Bring the water to a gentle simmer over medium heat, then add the pearl barley and cook until it begins to soften.

Add the cubed potato, salt, and black pepper, then continue simmering gently until the pearl barley is tender and the potato is very soft.

Mash some of the potato against the side of the pot to thicken the porridge, then stir in the unsalted butter and keep warm.

Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until it releases its fat and starts to crisp.
