7 steps
  1. 01

Bring the water to a boil, add the white rice, lower the heat, cover, and cook until the grains are tender and the liquid is absorbed. Fluff and set aside.

  2. 02

Simmer the brown lentils in the water until tender but not falling apart. Drain well and set aside.

  3. 03

Boil the macaroni pasta in the water until just tender, then drain.

  4. 04

Heat the vegetable oil to 175°C (350°F). Fry the onion in batches until deeply golden and crisp, then drain. Warm the chickpeas briefly and set aside.

  5. 05

Heat the vegetable oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook briefly, then stir in the tomato paste.

  6. 06

Add the tomato sauce, distilled white vinegar, cumin powder, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Simmer until the sauce thickens slightly and tastes balanced and tangy.

  7. 07

Spoon the white rice, brown lentils, and macaroni pasta into bowls, then top with the chickpeas, plenty of crisp onion, and the hot tomato sauce.
