Method

Combine the glutinous rice, coconut milk, and salt in a heavy pan. Cook over low heat, stirring often, until the coconut milk is absorbed and the rice is partly tender.

Let the rice cool until safe to handle.

Soften the nyirik leaf briefly over steam or hot water. Enclose portions of rice in tight rolls and secure them well.

Bring the water to a boil in a steamer. Steam the rolls until the rice is fully tender and firm enough to slice.
